Things to Do

Boat rentals are available on premises through Mansell Boat Rentals for sailing or motoring. We also welcome guests to launch their own canoes & kayaks from our beach. Ample room and equipment for beach combing, bird watching, star gazing, boat watching, grilling, or picnicking is available for our visitors as well.

We now have WiFi available at the Moorings Inn!

Acadia National Park is all around us if this is what you want to see and experience. Refer to this Acadia Map to get a good idea. The following are some key points of interest:

Acadia National Park Visitor Center
This is a good resource for information on the park.

Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse
This is about 4 miles southwest of us. Seawall, Wonderland Trail, and Ship Harbor Nature Trail are also along the same route 102A.

Cadillac Mountain
This is the highest mountain on Mount Desert Island at 1,523 feet.

Echo Lake
This is a nice fresh water lake just north of Southwest Harbor with a sand swimming beach in a mountanous area with hiking trails.

Island Explorer Shuttle Bus
FREE transportation to numerous places on Mount Desert Island.

Wildwood Stables
Take a horse drawn carriage ride on the famous Carriage Roads in Acadia National Park.

Seal Cove Auto Museum
This museum has one of the best antique brass car collections in the world with over 100 rare automobiles and over 30 antique motorcycles.
